Memphis Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke Arrested for Speeding, Drug Charges

Memphis Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke Arrested in Arkansas on Multiple Charges

Brandon Clarke, a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, found himself in legal trouble on Wednesday when he was arrested in Arkansas. The charges against Clarke include speeding and possession of a controlled substance.

Clarke’s season has already been marred by injuries, limiting his playtime to just two games. The Memphis Grizzlies organization has confirmed that he will not return to the court for the remainder of this season.

Before the Grizzlies faced New York on Wednesday night, head coach Tuomas Iisalo addressed the situation, stating, “I’m aware of the report, but don’t have any comments.”

The Cross County Sheriff’s Department has detailed Clarke’s arrest, listing charges such as improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance. Clarke’s booking photo has also been made available on the department’s website.

Standing at 6-foot-7, Clarke is currently in his seventh season since leaving Gonzaga. Due to various injuries, he has been absent from 73 games, initially missing 26 games while recovering from right knee surgery followed by a right calf strain that sidelined him for an additional 46 games.

On March 24, the Grizzlies announced that Clarke was continuing his rehabilitation process. However, further tests indicated that he required more time for healing before resuming “high-intensity court work.” The team anticipates his return in the next season.
