A Unique Cinematic Experience Unites Nogales Across Borders
This week, cinema enthusiasts in Nogales are set to witness a unique film festival that bridges the U.S.-Mexico border. The event will transform the border wall into an extraordinary viewing platform, offering a shared cultural experience.
Starting Thursday, residents on either side of the border will gather for a series of open-air screenings. For three consecutive nights, the Nogales International Film Festival will project films on screens placed at the border wall, effectively turning the barrier into a cultural gateway.
Attendees, illuminated by the same cinematic glow, will enjoy free screenings, fostering a sense of unity. Francisco Landin, the festival’s managing director, highlights the event’s significance: “It just kind of reminds us, we’re one Nogales, we’re one people, we’re one culture, we’re one community.”
The Film on the Fence event is scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings this week. Participants can view the full schedule on the Nogales International Film Festival website.
