Naomi Osaka Advances at Wimbledon, Daughter’s Park Day Postponed

In a memorable day at Wimbledon, Naomi Osaka advanced to the fourth round, delivering a decisive 6-1, 6-3 win against Daria Kasatkina on Friday. This marks Osaka’s first progression to this stage at the All England Club, highlighting her impressive skills on the court.

However, off the court, Osaka’s plans for her daughter Shai’s third birthday didn’t unfold as expected. During an on-court interview, Osaka shared, “I don’t think I should be telling you this, but she was kind of bad yesterday,” reflecting on their attempt to celebrate by visiting a nearby park. Unfortunately, the day required a change of plans when Shai needed a timeout.

Osaka recounted the experience with a smile, noting, “It was an awesome birthday. She blew out her candles. She made a wish — I hope her wish is to behave better. Today’s a new day for her.” Despite the challenges, Shai’s birthday was celebrated with joy and laughter.

Looking ahead, Osaka is set to face the top seed, Aryna Sabalenka, in her next match, promising an exciting encounter for tennis fans.
