The Illinois State Police have confirmed the identities of the victims, who ranged in age from 21 to 74. The tragic loss includes 74-year-old Patricia A. May, 49-year-old Cherie L. May, 25-year-old Shania W. Thompson, 24-year-old Devin D. May, and 21-year-old Quentin L. Thompson. The gruesome events unfolded on July 12 across multiple locations in East St. Louis, leaving two additional individuals injured.

Ja’ymier Davis, aged 16, faces charges as an adult, including five counts of first-degree murder. His alleged accomplice, a 15-year-old girl, is currently in juvenile court, but prosecutors aim to have her tried as an adult due to her alleged role as the mastermind behind the plot.

Further insights were provided by CBS News:

“Court documents don’t reveal a motive. But Marcus May, the father of the 15-year-old, told local news media that the girl was upset with family members and plotted the attacks with Ja’ymeir Davis, her boyfriend.”

‘I can’t show her no sympathy,’ May said. ‘She chose to do this.’

May said he lost a nephew, two stepchildren, his mother and a sister. They were 74, 49, 25, 24 and 21 years old.”

It was revealed that Cherie May had been killed prior to the other family members. In a disturbing detail, Davis is reported to have removed Patricia May’s thumb, adding to the horror of the crime.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to unravel the full story behind this tragedy. Community members can offer support to the affected families through a dedicated GoFundMe campaign.
