Sergeant on Paid Leave Amidst Controversy at ICE Protest
In a significant development within the Phoenix Police Department, a sergeant has been placed on paid administrative leave following a controversial incident at an anti-ICE protest in Chandler. The department is conducting an internal investigation into the sergeant’s conduct during the event.
According to a Fox 10 Phoenix report, the individual in question, identified as Sergeant Dusten Mullen, allegedly attempted to provoke high school students into assaulting him. This action was purportedly intended to lead to the students’ arrest by on-duty officers.
Chief Matt Giordano of the Phoenix Police has responded by placing Mullen on leave while the investigation proceeds. Chief Giordano emphasized the department’s commitment to “integrity, accountability, and sound judgment” from all officers involved.
